It’s visible from outer space and home to thousands of colorful corals, vibrant fish and an abundance of marine life from the smallest nudibranch to parrotfish, turtles and even migrating whales. This is a must do on a visit to this part of the world and a number of day tours depart Port Douglas daily.
Mossman Gorge is just a short (13 minute) drive away. What is it? A spectacular natural landscape rich in botanical and cultural history. The gorge itself has been carved out over thousands of years by the Mossman River. It is scattered with large granite boulders and has several safe and very refreshing, freshwater swimming sites. Access is through the Mossman Gorge Centre, which is an Indigenous ecotourism development offering guided cultural tours, an art gallery and more.
Daintree Rainforest is part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, home to the world’s oldest, most continually surviving tropical rainforests.
